Volume of a Rectangular Solid
Volume of Rectangular Solid = length x width x height
Example
Find the volume of the figure shown below

Volume = 6 x 4 x 3 = 72
Multiplying the length, width, and height yields the volume of the rectangular solid. This formula applies to cubes as well, another very common rectangular solid tested on the GMAT.
Cylinder volume
Cylinder volume is not frequently tested; however, it does show up occasionally on the test. Prepare yourself by memorizing the equation below.
Cylinder Volume = πr²h
Example
Find the volume of the figure shown below

V = π(1)² x 6 = 6π
